More reflections, thoughts, whatever you want to call them....

If you read this blog at all, you know that in the past few months I've shared the loss of lives that are so hard to understand. Two young mothers, taken from this earth too early in our thinking. 6 children left behind, loved by family members, friends and community members yet mourning the loss of their mommy!

In the words of a friend and I hope she doesn't mind, "... such a young life. How tragic. All the more reason to scrap those memories, we never know when our time is up and our scrapbooks become our legacy." I couldn't have worded that any better!! Although our scrapbooks could never replace the life of a loved one, when it is our time to go what a beautiful gift for those left here to cherish! Memories captured, moments cherished, forever!!

  • If you don't scrapbook, start now! We can help you! Email me at info@kisscropnshop.com, I will help you get started!
  • If you do scrapbook but haven't lately cause your pages don't look like the magazines....phoey! Get started, your family will not care if your pages are like the magazines, they will cherish your art, your memories, your love, the "YOU" that you created the pages with!
  • You scrapbook but haven't had time...FIRST, spend time hugging, loving, sharing with your family THEN carve out an hour or two a week for YOU time. What other hobby allows you to get YOU time AND preserve memories that will be cherished forever? C'mon, name one.... okay...get scrapping!!
  • You scrapbook but your pages are about birthdays, trips, etc. What does that have to do with my legacy? EVERYTHING!! It's you, it's your family, it's your moments in life that made you smile, cry, laugh, scream and more!!
What do you all say, are up to the challenge? Who's going to take at least an hour this week and create a legacy?

Have a great weekend!

In memory...

Aaron Marie Winters Reed, 25, of Webb City, MO, passed away tragically on Saturday, May 24, 2008, as a result of a car accident near Denver, CO, on her way to begin a new life in Lehi, Utah. Aaron was born June 18, 1982 in Hickory, NC, to Douglas Arthur and Loree Dawn Tibbitts Winters. She married Cameron James Reed on March 12, 2002, in the Logan LDS Temple.
Aaron grew up in Missouri and graduated from Webb City High School and Missouri Southern State University, where she received a degree with honors in secondary education. She taught English literature at Granby Middle School. She had many talents and excelled in music. Aaron was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many capacities during her life. She especially enjoyed her calling as ward organist. Aaron was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Cameron of Webb City/Lehi; three sons: Benjamin James, Samuel Douglas, Levi Thomas; mother, Loree (Mason) Stackhouse, Panaca, NV; five siblings: Krista (Thomas) Patrick, Robert Winters, Richard Winters, Megan Winters, and Michael Winters; grandparents: Clarence and Melba Winters, Hickory, NC, and Sherry Tibbitts, Millville, UT; and many loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Winters.

When they said goodbye they didn't realize it would mean forever. You've touched lives in ways you never knew. Thank you Mrs. Reed for loving the students of Granby!

Thank you to her children and husband for sharing her with our students. May God Bless your family and surround you with strength, fond memories and the opportunity to see each other again one day!!

With a sad heart...

This Memorial Day weekend has started out rather sad for members of our community. Fellow scrapper Jennifer Bowman lost her husband, Jay in an auto/motorcycle accident today. Please be much in prayer for that family. I was also just told that Mrs. Reed, one of my son's teachers was killed late last night/early this morning in an auto accident. She was thrown from her car with a seat belt on. She's a young mom of three small children. Others with her, including children were life-flighted. Please also be in much prayer for this family, the students that loved Mrs. Reed and the many friends and family that are hurting from both of these losses.

I'm also going to ask that each and every one of you be very careful this weekend in your travels!

Hugs to all,
Shannon

Memorial Day

Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend! We just returned from a family reunion, had a good time but both kiddos are fighting terrible sinus infections so they didn't get to play in the creek with the rest of the kids but they had a good time.

The rest of the weekend is going to be spent packing class kits and new kits that we'll be debuting at the CK Convention in Buffalo, New York next weekend. I get to teach four awesome classes for Lickety Split Scrapbooks again! Wendy Linn rocks at designing classes! It makes it sooo easy to teach when you've got a great project! I'll also be teaching the new acrylic/chipboard class that I designed. It's a fun album full of possibilities! We've had great feedback and the classes are all so fun! Just hope we don't have another early morning class! You all know that I'm not much of a morning person! I don't know how you all take classes so early! My brain is mush until noon most days! LOL!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, be safe, enjoy family and thank a Veteran! (Thanks Dad! Love you!!)

Another thought

While we are on the subject of time.....what are you doing to capture time in your albums? Have you done a page about your daily routine? Included photos of the not so fun stuff that you must do everyday (laundry, ugh!!) What about a then and now page? Photos of you before kids and after or what about photos of your home before/after kids or marriage. We all know how drastically those change!! Created a Looking Back album or page highlighting all those moments in time that are special? First kiss, first job, first house... you get the point. Where you where when... page? Where were you when 9-11 happened? Where were you when you found out someone close to you was ill? Where were you when you were told the first time that you were loved by that special someone?

So often we scrap our photos but what about scrapping our thoughts, our memories, our moments in time and THEN adding photos!! Give it a try, I'd love to see what you create or hear your ideas!
